The brief from the client was to harmonise the entrance to the site and to ensure the access met current legislation. The newly installed steps now reflect the scale of the cathedral like frontage of the main reception area; whilst a stylish Ramp, sweeping through the planting, ensures that the site is accessible to all. As the site is used 24/7, good lighting was essential on all stairs. To avoid light pollution in a green belt area the lighting was directed downwards. The new planting of large blocks of evergreen and flowering shrubs, coloured stems of Cornus in the winter and grasses bringing texture and movement to the area and ensure that it looks wonderful year round.
